Matthew Daub

(aka Jayce/Wiz)

Linux-first builder. Small services, clear surfaces.

Matthew / Jayce / Wiz

My name is Matthew, preferably called Jayce and known as "Wiz" online. I am a linux-first developer and systems-oriented builder. I work primarily in TypeScript and Node.js, and I self-host when it provides real value. Most days that means small services, Linux hosts, and the operational layer around them: Compose, reverse proxies, and keeping the surface area understandable.

My primary long-term project is LumiCore, a proprietary platform for managing Discord guilds. It is the work I expect to still be doing years from now: guild operations, tooling, and the unglamorous reliability that makes a community actually run.

I treat self-hosting as a choice, not a brand. If running it myself is simpler and more durable, I do that. If it is not, I do not pretend a homelab is the product. This page stays small on purpose: who I am, some of the work, and a way to write.

Things I have built or contributed to, including a little work that is not public.

  • LumiCore

    Private

At the center of my work, LumiCore is a proprietary platform built for managing Discord guilds and running communities. It provides the operational backbone that enables automation, moderation, and events. It is focused on maintainability and long-term reliability.

  • An open-source framework powering professional and casual developers from Minor League Esports. Sprocket enables transparent scheduling, player management, match result tracking, and custom workflows that support major tournaments and daily scrimmages.

  • League operations for Minor League Esports, rebuilt. Kinetic manages schedules, team rosters, standings, and automations required by large-scale, competitive gaming environments, reducing manual admin and keeping the league running smoothly.

  • Custom desktop widgets for GNOME Shell, designed to live on a grid and provide at-a-glance information, quick actions, and workspace integrations. Gridgets are tailored for my Linux workflow, but open to the wider desktop community.

  • DysFunctional

    Private

The identity of my entire homelab, spanning my 12U server rack, UniFi network, Chenbro12x Unraid host, and most of my home devices. Nearly everything in my personal network lives under the DysFunctional name.

  • A robust Node.js and TypeScript library designed to make automated jobs and retries safe, reliable, and idempotent. IdemOps reduces the risk of failures or duplicate operations, letting automation work predictably even across system restarts.

  • Universal Logger Pro

    WizFizz/universal-logger-pro

A structured logging system for TypeScript applications and services that outputs rich, well-formatted logs understood by people and platforms. This project keeps observability practical and actionable across my projects.
